China and Thailand Introduce Permanent Visa-Free Travel

China and Thailand have introduced a groundbreaking permanent visa-free travel arrangement, marking a significant development in their bilateral relations. This agreement enables citizens of both nations to enter each other’s countries without the need for a visa, permitting stays of up to 30 days. Effective from 1st March 2024, individuals holding ordinary passports and travelling for tourism, family visits, or business purposes will be eligible to benefit from this new policy.

The signing of this agreement in Bangkong underscores the commitment of both countries to enhance mutual cooperation and promote people-to-people exchanges. Notably, this agreement supersedes Thailand’s previous temporary visa waiver for Chinese travellers, which was initially set to expire on February 29th.
