China Grants Visa-Free Entry to Six More European Countries

China has announced an expansion of its visa-free policy, initiating a pilot programme for ordinary passport holders from six nations: Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, and Luxembourg. Between 14 March and 30 November 2024, individuals from these countries may enter China without a visa for purposes such as business, tourism, visiting relatives, and transit, with a stay of up to 15 days. However, travellers who fail to meet the exemption criteria must still obtain a visa prior to their arrival in China.

Furthermore, commencing 1 December 2023, citizens of France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Spain were granted visa-free access to China. With the addition of these six new countries in Europe, a total of 11 European countries are now included in China’s visa-free travel list.
