China Extends Visa-Free Travel for 12 Countries

China Extends Visa-Free Travel for 12 Countries

China has extended visa-free travel for citizens of 12 countries until December 31, 2025. Passport holders from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Spain, and Switzerland can now enjoy unrestricted entry for short stays of up to 15 days for the purposes of tourism, business, visiting friends and family, or transit.

This extension follows China’s earlier visa waiver for Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, and France at the end of 2023, and for Luxembourg, Belgium, Austria, Hungary, Ireland, and Switzerland in March 2024. We believe this extension will further enhance confidence and enthusiasm for travelling to China.

China is also actively promoting the opening and resumption of international routes to facilitate increased movement. Direct flights between Shanghai and Marseille will open on July 2, providing the first direct air passage for the two sister cities. Additionally, Bahrain will begin direct flights to China from May 28 and direct flights between China and Mexico will resume on May 11. These expansions will not only enhance convenience for travellers, but also lower travel costs.
