Day 1

Chiang Rai

In the morning, on arrival at Chiang Rai International Airport, the driver will be waiting to transfer you to Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp and Resort. Perched on a ridge in northern Thailand overlooking the border with Myanmar and Laos, Anantara Golden Triangle immerses you in once-in-a-lifetime jungle adventures and experiences. It also gives you the opportunity to bond with elephants, as the resort is home to an award-winning elephant camp, which sets a benchmark for elephant welfare in Thailand. After lunch, relax with an indulgent spa experience of your choice in the resort’s luxurious spa. The spa menu draws on centuries of northern wellness traditions, as well as indigenous and medicinal ingredients. Combine any 30-minute body treatment with a 60-minute massage or facial treatment to create your own personalised spa experience. A three-storey open-air pavilion and the scent of lemongrass will greet you on arrival at the spa. Then ascend to your teakwood suite overlooking three countries and immerse yourself in 90-minutes of luxuriant pampering. Overnight at Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp and Resort.

Day 2

Chiang Rai

After breakfast, you will get the unique and long-awaited opportunity to meet the elephants and observe and connect with them in their natural environment. The resort’s elephant camp is home to rescued, orphaned and abandoned elephants and the mahouts who take care of them. The camp has been designed along the lines of the traditional mahouts’ villages found in the hills of Northern Thailand in the days when logging employed the majority of Thailand’s elephants. You will have the unique opportunity to enjoy an activity with your new four-legged friends and learn the fascinating historical and cultural customs of mahouts and their elephants. The team will share their traditional knowledge and teach you to make medicinal food for the older rescued elephants. After lunch, the afternoon is at leisure. You could spend some time swimming in the stunning infinity pool; join in the activities organised by the resort; or just relax and enjoy the view of the convergence of two rivers and three countries — Thailand, Laos and Myanmar. Overnight at Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp and Resort.

Day 3

Chiang Rai

Wake up to another beautiful morning and the sounds of the surrounding lush green jungle. After a delicious breakfast, visit the Hall of Opium Museum which is located just opposite the resort. A combination of multimedia and exhibition, the modern museum aims to educate people about opium in a fun and interesting environment. The eye-opening institution portrays every angle of the mysterious world of opium, including the history of the Golden Triangle, the origin of opium, the opium war, opium warlords, drug smugglers, opium effects, the battle against opium and poppy growing. The Hall of Opium Museum also explores the impact that opium seed has had on the Golden Triangle and the people who live in this former worldwide drug trading zone. Sadly, it is then time to return and say goodbye to the friendly staff at Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp and Resort. After checking out, the driver will transfer you back to Chiang Rai International Airport.
