3 Days Phuket Way of Life

  • Destination

    Thailand

  • Trip duration

    3 days, 2 nights

Day 1

Phuket

From the airport you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in. We then spend the afternoon strolling through the Sino-Portuguese quarter of Phuket town, meandering through the side streets to admire traditional architecture and historic colonial buildings. As we walk through the old town, Phuket is brought to life as we immerse ourselves in its melting pot of culture, from the fragrant street food stalls and restaurants, to the architecture and décor. Our exploration takes us to Thai Hua Museum. This is set in a building that stands as a stunning example of Sino-Portuguese design. Formerly a Chinese-language school, the building today stands out as a museum and exhibition space that chronicles the island’s history. We also stop at an old Chinese temple and finish off with a delicious dinner atop Rang Hills which boasts stunning vistas of the island below. Overnight at Casa Blanca Boutique Hotel.

Day 2

Phuket

After breakfast, spend the morning at your leisure at the hotel, or discover the town at your own pace. In the afternoon, we will head to Chalong Bay Rum Distillery (Monday to Saturday only). Along the way we will stop at a cashew nut factory to find out more about the process of harvesting nuts – from picking the nuts to stacking them on the shelves. We get to sample fresh cashew nuts, cashew nut juice and dried local fruits. We arrive at the distillery where we will take a tour and learn about how the traditional French art of distillation is combined with Thailand’s sugarcane to produce quality rum. Of course, we get to sample the results with a refreshing Chalong Bay mojito. We continue to Rawai Beach to visit a bustling sea gypsy seafood market before watching a sublime sunset from picturesque Phromthep Cape, followed by a dinner of tasty Thai food at a local restaurant. Overnight at Casa Blanca Boutique Hotel.

Day 3

Phuket

We start the day with a glimpse into local life with breakfast at a traditional Thai eatery – a great spot to soak up the town’s daily sights and sounds. With Phuket serving as a melting pot of culture and cuisine, early morning meals range from dim sum and roti, to congee and kopi. Afterwards, we head to a local market to immerse ourselves in typical Thai life. We will learn about the range of fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices sold at this location. On our way to a Buddhist temple, we will stop to buy some flowers and fruits to give as offerings to the monks who live, work and study there. Here, we will learn about the history of the temple, the practices of Buddhism and how they fit into daily life. We then return to the hotel for check-out and transfer to the airport for the onward flight.
