The two camps featured in this journey – Honghe Valley and the Yunnan–Vietnam Railway – are built on historic village ruins and old railway sites, offering a rare blend of authenticity, comfort, and heritage.
Chef Aingeru Etxebarria will explore how local ingredients – mushrooms, herbs, terrace fish, and mountain produce – can embody the philosophy of pintxos and Mediterranean techniques.
Together with our Yunnan chef team, he will reinterpret the valley’s flavours, lead workshops, co-create menus, and guide guests through a cross-cultural dialogue between Basque cuisine and Yunnan terroir.
This journey weaves all these elements into one: markets, terraces, bamboo crafts, chef-led cooking, ancient towns, music nights, and railway trails – a complete immersion into the living Red River.
Upon arriving in Kunming, travel onward via Yuxi and savor your first flavors of Yunnan with a lunch of roast duck cooked using pine leaf ropes. By evening, arrive at Vinetree Resort, a luxury retreat built on the ruins of the ancient Stone Village and overlooking the UNESCO-listed Hani Rice Terraces. The day concludes with a welcome dinner, setting the stage for an immersive journey into the region’s culture and cuisine.

In the morning, explore Yisa Ancient Town, walking through the caravan-era streets shaped by the historic Yunnan–Vietnam trade route. In the afternoon, choose between two immersive experiences: participate in a Chef’s Workshop to explore Yunnan ingredients and cooking techniques with our Chinese–Spanish chef team, or visit Talong Village, a preserved “white-stone village” featuring centuries-old houses and layers of Hani–Han culture.

In the morning, join local farmers in the terraced fields for a playful, hands-on Terrace Fish Catching experience. In the afternoon, choose between two engaging activities: a Chef’s Workshop, where you turn the morning’s catch into a creative dish, or Sticky Rice Cake Making, experiencing a traditional Hani New Year food ritual. As night falls, immerse yourself in the 123 Music Festival, where electronic music meets the mountain air for a captivating evening under the open sky.

In the morning, visit Leyu Market, a lively local market where villagers trade fresh produce, herbs, meats, and daily essentials, offering a perfect introduction to Yunnan through its ingredients. In the afternoon, participate in a Bamboo Weaving Workshop and craft a bamboo fan under the guidance of master artisans from the local village. As night falls, enjoy a Dual-Chef Feast, a cross-cultural menu co-created by the Chinese and Spanish chefs, followed by another immersive evening of music at the 123 Music Festival in the valley.

In the morning, explore Jiayin Market for another vibrant look at local food culture and seasonal produce. In the afternoon, embark on a hike along the historic Yunnan–Vietnam Railway trail, culminating at the legendary Faux Namti Bridge, a marvel of early 20th-century engineering. By night, check into the second Vinetree Resort, located on the site of a former Italian settlement. This glamping destination blends historical nostalgia with modern comfort, thoughtfully designed to recreate the life of railway builders from a century ago, and concludes the day with a welcome dinner.

In the morning, visit Baiheqiao Market, home to the last surviving railway market along the historic Yunnan–Vietnam Railway. In the afternoon, follow the Luogu Station Trail, walking past abandoned stations and winding village pathways. As night falls, enjoy The Railway Opening Banquet, a signature dinner inspired by the original opening ceremony of the Yunnan–Vietnam Railway - a tribute to the people, cultures, and mountains it once connected.

Return via Kunming Changshui Airport, carrying with you the flavours, stories, and sounds of the Red River Valley.
Located beside the UNESCO-listed Hani Rice Terraces, the camp is built within the remains of Shitouzhai Village. Structures made from rammed earth and stone connect the camp with its surroundings, while public areas such as the lounge, restaurant, and bar are integrated into the original village layout. The tents feature a natural, minimalist design and include full facilities, private soaking pools, and equipment for stargazing and sketching.
This camp is located next to the historic Yunnan–Vietnam Railway, on the site of the former Bozzolo Company. It incorporates old railway objects and outdoor elements, such as oil lamps and sleepers, to create a historical atmosphere.
